I've been a TV buff since forever. Before getting hooked in the computer, I used to watch television for hours on ends. Whenever there was no school, I would wake up at around 11am, watch TV, have lunch(while having the TV in front of our dining table), watch TV, have merienda(eat at a place that has a tv right across), watch TV, have dinner(same dining table!), watch TV, then fall asleep in front of the TV. As a kid, that was the schedule I used to have. As I grew older, I got more involved in different things usual older kids would enjoy. Talking on the phone, going out, having overnights, or using the computers. Still there would be no difference, I could go on for ours on the phone with still the TV turned on. I could go out everyday, just maybe half those times I'd be headed to the movie house. ;)
So after careful deliberation of all the TV shows I've grown fond of or have gotten addicted to the most or the ones I'm more or less sure I wont forget through the years, here's a list of my top 10 picks, in no particular order. Having an order might give biases to those I've watched numerous times, or those I'm still currently watching. :)
1. FRIENDS
Hands down, one of the best TV Sitcoms there is. I never grew tired of this television series. Each member had their own thing, things you just won't forget. Through the series, you could really see the intensity of each character. You'll see that it was not all acting, true friendship was already created. They've been together through the good times and the bad times, and so have their viewers. Not only do you enjoy your free time with these crazy group of friends, you'll also get to learn a lot about friendship, relationships, career, and basically life in general. It's one of those shows that would really keep you laughing consecutively for hours even though you're already fully aware of what they're going to say next. Sometimes, you even laugh even before they say it because you already remembered the lines beforehand. :) Definitely one of the best cheer-up-ers there is.
2. The Simpsons
20 seasons worth of pure family laughter! I must have watched almost all episodes multiple times, and still I can't seem to get tired of them! They really are the best dysfunctional cartoon family there is. It appeals to everyone of all ages, whatever era you may come from. They adapt their shows to current situations, and lets everyone relate to the issues presented. They try to present situations currently present in our society. Special guests also keep the viewers in their feet, making it interesting to see our favorite celebrities turn into one of the Simpsons!
3. Big Bang Theory
A comedy show that caters to the geek within. A show geeks can relate to, for them to actually have fun like normal people. After all, geeks need to loosen up every now and then too right? :) Instead of having another round of Battlestar Gallactica, or Star Trek, why not have a big laugh with The Big Bang Theory, and get to learn a few general knowledge along the way. Information such as, how much difference a step in stairs need to have a higher probability of people tripping, or how you can really disprove Superman with Physics. It's sure to give you 20 minutes worth of laughing out louds and bright ideas!
4. Desperate Housewives
One of the more serious TV shows in the list. Not your typical relaxation kind of TV show. It shows all the drama a housewife can undergo. Housewives are usually taken for granted. We thin that they just stay at home, take care of the kids, fix and clean the house, what we don't see is how much these little things can be turned into something big. Murder in the neighborhood, suicide, husband problems, divorce, disobedient kids, super obedient kids, secrets hiding behind the closet and adultary, are just some of the few issues these regular housewives can go through.
5. The OC
I just love Seth Cohen, and the Summer-Seth duo! One of the first Television Drama I actually watched from start til end. I was so frustrated when they ended the series. It still had a lot of potential, but was ended abruptly, thus giving it a not so good ending. It's actually one of your typical california lifestyle, just like 90210, with the added drama bonus of Ryan as the used to be juvenile now living with a "perfect family in a perfect home."
6. Beavis and Butthead
There's really nothing much to Beavis and Butthead. I didn't really get their humor when I used to watch them. But I can't help but laugh everytime I hear the Beavis and Butthead laugh! And I'm sure I'll remember them til the end of time! ha-ha-ha-ha-ha.
7. Flintstones
One of my favorite cartoons as a kid! They went well hand in hand with The Jetsons. The Flinstones is your typical family living in a stoneage era. Instead of having a rattle, Bambam had a clubber. And instead of a dog, they had Dino. On the other hand, The Jetsons showed a typical family in the future setting. They had rockets and robots and even a robot pet!
8. Power Rangers
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers! I was a fan and I'm not embarassed by it! LOL! I used to watch it almost everyday, I even used to dream about them and had the idea that dreams that the Power Rangers was defeated was a nightmare! Yes, that's one of the dreams I still somehow vividly remember from childhood. I even bought an original OST of the movie, and bought merchandises! Like the goo and everything. I even used to have the robot that actually becomes seperated and joined together. I just gave it away to a charity sale, and somehow regretting it because it might be worth something some day! It still worked perfectly, and I didn't even admit that it came from me when I gave it up. At least some other kid's having fun with it now I hope. :) I got to watch a few episodes of the new Power Rangers, and they suck though.
9. Gossip Girl
Currently my favorite television drama. It's all about gossip, money, clothes, and hot guys, what more can you ask for? It shows the lives of bratty teenagers who would really do anything to get their own way. Just shows how much money can't really buy you happiness, but at least can give you the power to do what you think may give you happiness. ;)
10. 7th Heaven
Also one of those shows I've watched repeatedly but not really on purpose. There's usually nothing to watch during the Holy Week, and studio 23 always shows a 2 day marathon of 7th Heaven. I used to watch this every Saturday too with Gilmore Girls. They're this "perfect" family that's still really a normal family on the inside. They also go through different challenges, and face moral decisions. It just shows that even the so called perfect family can also go wrong one way or another. Though I'm not really a fan of the show anymore, (I now think they're problems are too extreme, either too shallow or too intense), it'll still be one of those shows I'll probably remember and might watch when I catch it on the television.
I could go on and on about all the TV shows I love. There's still Looney Toons; Disney shows such as Kim Possible, Suite Life of Zach and Cody, and Lizzie Mcguire; Nickelodeon shows such as Kenan and Kel; HBO shows such as Sex and the City, and Little Lulu, and those sitcoms such as My Wife and Kids, that 70's show, 3rd Rock from the Sun, and How I Met Your Mother; there's also WWF I used to regularly watch as well!
So this is just a brief look of my Top 10 Favorite TV Shows. :) Just goes to show that, I can't live without watching anything!
